DAY 1: PORTO
Our purser will welcome
you aboard our brand new
ship beginning at 5:00
pm. After settling in
your cabins our staff
will introduce themselves
and you will get a chance
to meet them and your
fellow passengers during
our welcome cocktail,
followed by your first
dinner aboard, Later on,
our hostess will accompany
you for the romantic visit
of the illuminated old
town.
DAY 2: PORTO - REGUA
After a buffet breakfast
aboard, we will discover
PORTO, Portugal’s
second largest town, as
well as one of the most
ancient towns in Europe:
ancient areas which kept
intact, winding lanes,
houses with archways,
magnificent churches.
PORTO is the centre of
the port wine industry,
receiving wine from the
vineyards along the Douro
River. We are going to
visit one of the greatest
cellars in Villa Nova
de Gaia. You will have
the opportunity to taste
the wines. Later we will
return to the MS VASCO
DE GAMA to have lunch
and to admire the wonderful
landscapes up to Regua.
We will pass the locks
of Crestuma and Carrapatello
(the highest in Europe
at 35 meters or about
115 feet.) We will arrive
in Regua at about 8:00
PM. Dinner aboard and
evening with a folk group.
DAY 3: REGUA –
VEGA de TERRON (Spain)
We will have buffet breakfast
on board before departing
for VILLA REAL with its
beautiful 14th century
cathedral. Later on, we
will leave for a lovely
walk in the beautiful
gardens of Solar de Mateus.
We will join the ship
in Pinhão. For
those who prefer to remain
on board, the ship will
sail to Pinhão
while lunch is served
on board.
This afternoon we will
cruise through the high
hills in the region of
the world famous Port
Wine. This is one of the
most beautiful and truly
unique areas of the country
with terraced vineyards
climbing the surrounding
hills, sometimes to a
height of 700 meters.
(2,300 feet.) We will
pass through the lock
of Valeria and arrive
in Vega de Terron in the
evening. We will have
a Spanish theme dinner
on board.
DAY 4: VEGA DE TERRON
- FERRADOSA - PINHÃO
We will depart early as
we enjoy a buffet breakfast
aboard. We will pass through
the lock at Pocinho and
cruse until lunch. We
will stop at Ferradosa
about 2:00 PM where you
can join an excursion
to a “Quinta”,
a local farm that produces
the grapes and wines used
in Port. We will rejoin
the ship in PINHÃO
at about 6:00 PM. you’ll
have time to explore the
town. Dinner on board.
DAY 5: PINHÃO
- PORTO
This morning after breakfast
we depart fro Lamego by
coach for the guided tour
of this historic city.
Here you will visit the
Nossa Senhora dos Remedios
sanctuary, the medieval
castle and church of Almacave
and the cathedral. We
will return to the ship
for lunch on board. This
afternoon we will cruise
to Porto where we will
have dinner on board and
enjoy the most Portuguese
of entertainment, fado.
DAY 6: PORTO
Buffet breakfast aboard.
Disembark with great memories.
